The first Sir Edmund Hillary Mountain Legacy Medal was presented to Helen Cawley and Michael Schmitz on the occasion of the Mount Everest Golden Jubilee celebration at Tengboche Monastery (Khumbu, Nepal) on May 29, 2003.
